Many people seeking an ADHD assessment have questions about the process. One of the most common questions is: "Will I get an ADHD diagnosis during the meeting?" This article aims to clarify this and provide a better understanding of what to expect during your Mentalwell ADHD online assessment.

What Happens During the Assessment?
The assessment is a crucial step in the ADHD diagnostic process. During this online meeting, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and experiences with an expert mental health psychiatrist.
This typically involves:
Completion of pre-assessment questionnaires: You will be asked to complete pre-assessment questionnaires that evaluate your symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity which will be reviewed thoroughly by the clinician who will conduct your assessment.
A detailed interview: You'll be asked a series of questions about your symptoms, their impact on your life, and your personal and family history.
Review of your medical history: You may be asked to provide information about any previous medical conditions or medications.
Will I Receive a Diagnosis During the Initial Meeting?
In most cases, a diagnosis will be made during the assessment. A definitive result will be shared shortly after through an outcome letter summarising the appointment and the diagnosis made by the clinician. In some cases, the clinician will require further investigation and analysis to provide a comprehensive diagnosis, gathering information and understanding your individual circumstances.
What Happens After the Assessment?
Following the assessment, the clinician will review all the information gathered, including your responses to questionnaires, medical history, and the details discussed during the interview.
If a diagnosis is positive with ADHD: The clinician may recommend a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.
If a diagnosis is negative with ADHD: The clinician will discuss alternative explanations for your symptoms and may recommend other areas for further exploration.
Receiving Your Diagnosis
Once all the necessary information has been gathered and reviewed, you will receive a comprehensive report summarising the assessment findings and the clinician's recommendations. This report will typically include a diagnosis if appropriate and will be shared with the patient after 5 business days (maximum).
Remember:
The assessment process is designed to provide a thorough and accurate evaluation. It's important to be patient and allow the clinician to carefully review all the information before reaching a diagnosis.
